Meet the Directors
Meet Mr. Leslie
Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, History of Rock 'n Roll, Ukulele and Songwriting, Choir

Hello! My name is Matthew Leslie. I am the new Director of Bands at Fowlerville High School! In addition to Marching Band, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble, I am also in charge of History of Rock and Roll, Ukulele and Songwriting, Jazz Band, and Choir! I did my student teaching and first year of teaching at the elementary music level, but made the switch to secondary in Fall of 2024.
I hold my undergraduate degree in Music Education, with my emphasis in percussion performance from Grand Valley State University, where I graduated in Spring of 2023 (JX certified). Though not currently taking any classes, I plan to get my Masters degree at some point!
My goal through education is to:
I currently live in Fenton, Michigan, though I grew up in Fruitport, Michigan, graduating from Fruitport High School in 2018. I then moved to Allendale to attend Grand Valley State University in that same year. During my education, I had the amazing opportunity to work with my old high school with their winter percussion program, where I served as the Front Ensemble Coordinator for two seasons. Beyond music, I love going to the gym, as well as playing video games, which has been a lifelong hobby of mine. I am also trying to get back into reading, recently having read through The Dark Tower series, as well as working through the Game of Thrones series.
If you would like to contact me, please feel free to do so through the band's email or through the school email system ([email protected]). I very much look forward to the journey of improving myself as an educator, and feel very fortunate to be able to do it at Fowlerville Community Schools.

Meet Ms. Mills
Junior High School Bands

Hello! My name is Amelia Mills and I am the Director of Bands at Fowlerville Junior High School. This will be my second year teaching full time and I will be working with the 6th, 7th and 8th grade bands as well as serving as the Assistant Director of the high school marching band.
I graduated from Michigan State University in 2022 with bachelor’s degrees in both Music Education and Clarinet Performance. During my time at MSU I was a member of the alto saxophone section in the Spartan Marching Band, I played in the MSU Wind Symphony, and I worked at the MSU Community Music School teaching early childhood music classes.
Personally, I live in the East Lansing area and in my free time I enjoy hiking and exploring local parks and natural areas, knitting, taking care of my many houseplants, and of course making music!
I am so excited to be joining the Fowlerville community and I am looking forward to a fun and successful school year! If you would like to contact me for any reason, please email me at [email protected]. Go Glads!!
